What a brilliant way to start the year with a return visit from one of our favourites, John Doherty. He was greeted by a full house ready to dance and be entertained and they were not disappointed.
As usual our DJ Anne opened up with 15 minutes of music to get the dancers warmed up before John took to the stage for the first of three sets, which were separated by another session from Anne and the popular raffle.
John sang a mixture of songs which kept the dancers on the floor all evening. Familiar tunes included Brokenhearted, Champagne Promise, Closer, Dirt On My Boots, Inspiration, First Fool In Line, Just To See You Smile, Love Her For A While, Missing, Mr Lonely, Somebody Like You and Texas Time which were interspersed with newer numbers. The more recent ones included Adalaida, Down To The Honkytonk, Gone West, Loving You Makes Me A Better Man, Playboys and Small Town Summer of course we had a Barn Dance, where almost everyone participated to She’s My Baby.
John finished the evening with Half Past Tipsy to round off a superb evening of great singing and interface with his audience which was fully appreciated by all.
After a great start to 2020 we can’t wait to see Paul Bailey in February.
