February Social

It was good to see John Doherty back at Phoenix Riders LDC in February. To start the evening we held our Annual General Meeting required by our Constitution. The financial position of the club was explained to the meeting. There was an operating loss of £797 due to the fact that our February 2022 gig was cancelled due to a major storm and we had to pay for the act and the hall hire at a cost of £596. In addition we also bought some new equipment. We also made £400 of donations to local charities. However, our financial position remains strong going forward. Entrance costs will remain at the current level for the remainder of 2023.

John gave us a great evening as usual, mixing old and new and keeping the dance floor occupied. Looking forward to seeing him once again next year.

Our next gig takes place in March when we welcome for the first time Ryan Payling. As this event is on 17th March (St Patrick’s Day) the theme for the evening will be green and Irish. On 21 April we have Bob Keeley and with St Georges Day being on the 23rd the theme for this event is red and white and St George.

The Coronation of King Charles III is in May so we should make the 19th May an evening when both the gentlemen and ladies have the opportunity to dress in their finery for the evening.
