Our February gig started early to enable us to hold the AGM and not impact on the evening’s entertainment. This was our third AGM and our Chairman Alan Gregory, and Treasurer Terry Slater summarised the events of the last year and updated the Membership of the financial performance. Finances remain in a strong position and membership continues to grow. A prompt finish ensured that our DJ Anne got the dancing started at 8 pm as usual.
With a full house we welcomed on stage for his annual visit, Mr Linedance himself, all the way from Shrewsbury, Paul Bailey.
Paul is an excellent showman, with a great rapport with his audience which he interacted with throughout the evening. Tonight was no exception with a first set of current favourites, including requests from the audience which kept the floor full.
As usual DJ Anne filled the first break and kept the floor full before Paul took to the stage again. His second set was just as good as the first. He started with Texas Time and Lonely Blues in a set which also included Paul’s own song’s Romeo Tonight and The Music Man, which included a quick teach by Paul himself.
After the raffle, Paul, in a change of outfit, was straight into a final set which included Backroad Nation, Gone West, Half Past Tipsy and Morning Sun. The Barn Dance was to a combination of Tickle Me Twice and Singing The Blues with partners changing throughout the dance, good fun! The evening finished with Thank You and Things I Carry Around.
What a great evening which flew by and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. See you next year Paul.
